can i track my car on the internet if it has a portable tomtom go700 gps device?
Just curious to see if the GPS device is on can I track it through the internet?
No. Your GPS Tomtom does not OUTPUT any signal back to the GPS satellites it RECEIVES from.
It IS possible to TRACK where a vehicle has been with certain types of TRACKING GPS systems, of which your Tomtom is not. Some tracking GPS systems simply remember where they have been, (data loggers) recorded at certain intervals, and this information can be reviewed only by accessing the unit after the trip.
Others can OUTPUT a radio signal periodically, (data pushers) to indicate position information, but this is not through the GPS satellites per se, but using a cellular (GPRS) radio or satellite modem integral to the unit. These systems can give you real time information about vehicle location.
